BTA12-600B High Power TRIAC (12 Amperes 600 Volts)
Product Description
The BTA12-600B is a reliable, high-performance bidirectional AC switch (TRIAC) designed for general-purpose AC power control and static switching applications. Featuring a continuous root mean square (RMS) on-state current capacity of 12 Amperes and a peak repetitive off-state voltage rating of 600 Volts, it provides smooth power control for standard AC mains equipment operating on 110 Volts to 240 Volts AC lines.
Housed in an insulated TO-220AB package, the BTA12 series features internal ceramic isolation providing 2500 Volts RMS dielectric insulation between the internal semiconductor junctions and the external metal mounting tab. This internal isolation allows for direct mounting onto grounded aluminum heat sinks without requiring separate insulating mica washers or thermal pads, simplifying mechanical design and assembly. It is widely used in motor speed controllers, heating element regulation, light dimmers, and solid-state relays.
Key Features
- High RMS On-State Current: Handles continuous load currents up to 12 Amperes.
- 600 Volts Off-State Blocking: Rated for peak repetitive off-state voltages up to 600 Volts.
- Internally Insulated TO-220AB Package: Built-in ceramic isolation delivers 2500 Volts RMS insulation to the mounting tab, eliminating the need for external tab insulation.
- 4-Quadrant Gate Triggering: Standard 4-quadrant operation with high dI/dt and dV/dt performance.
- High Surge Capacity: Non-repetitive peak surge current rating up to 120 Amperes (at 50 Hertz) or 126 Amperes (at 60 Hertz) protects against startup inrush conditions.
