Product Description
The DFRobot Gravity Analog Water Pressure Sensor (SEN0257) is a pressure measurement module designed to monitor the pressure of non-corrosive liquids and gases. It features a measurement range of 0–16 bar (0–1.6 MPa) and provides a linear analog voltage output of 0.5–4.5V, allowing pressure readings to be easily monitored using Arduino, ESP32, and other compatible microcontrollers with analog input capabilities.
Operating with a standard 5V DC supply, the sensor uses a Gravity 3-pin interface for convenient connection to development boards and compatible expansion shields. Its G1/4 threaded pressure port, supplied G1/2-to-G1/4 adapter, and IP68 waterproof rating make it suitable for integration into water monitoring and pressure control systems.
With a fast response time of less than 2ms, the SEN0257 can be used to monitor pressure changes in water pipes, pumps, irrigation systems, tanks, and other fluid-handling applications.

Technical Information
1. Pressure Measurement Range
The sensor measures pressure from 0 to 1.6 MPa (0–16 bar). It converts the detected pressure into a proportional analog voltage signal ranging from 0.5V to 4.5V.
The output voltage increases as the measured pressure increases, allowing a microcontroller to calculate the corresponding pressure value.
2. Analog Voltage Output
The sensor provides a linear 0.5–4.5V analog output:
- 0 bar: approximately 0.5V.
- 8 bar: approximately 2.5V.
- 16 bar: approximately 4.5V.
These are nominal reference values based on the specified linear output range. Actual readings may vary according to sensor accuracy and operating conditions.
3. Electrical Connection
The sensor uses a standard Gravity 3-pin connection:
| Wire Color | Pin | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | Signal | Analog output (0.5–4.5V) |
| Red | VCC | 5V DC power supply |
| Black | GND | Ground |
The analog output can be connected to a compatible analog input on Arduino or another microcontroller.
4. Pressure Port and Installation
The sensor features a G1/4 threaded connection and comes with a G1/2-to-G1/4 adapter mounted on the sensor.
This allows it to be integrated into compatible plumbing, water piping, and pressure measurement systems. Ensure that the threaded connection is properly sealed during installation to prevent leakage.
5. Pressure and Environmental Limits
The sensor has a specified normal operating pressure limit of up to 2.0 MPa and a damage pressure specification of ≥3.0 MPa.
The measurement range is 0–1.6 MPa. The higher pressure figures are pressure limits, not additional measurement ranges.
The IP68 rating provides protection against water ingress under the manufacturer's specified test conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is the pressure measurement range of this sensor?
The DFRobot SEN0257 measures pressure from 0 to 1.6 MPa, equivalent to 0–16 bar.
2. What is the output signal of the sensor?
It provides a linear analog voltage output ranging from 0.5V at zero pressure to 4.5V at full-scale pressure (16 bar).
3. What power supply does the sensor require?
The sensor operates using a 5V DC power supply.
4. Is this pressure sensor compatible with Arduino and ESP32?
Yes. It can be connected to Arduino, ESP32, and other compatible development boards through an analog input. Make sure the analog output voltage does not exceed the maximum permitted input voltage of the controller.
5. Can this sensor measure air or gas pressure?
Yes. According to DFRobot, it supports non-corrosive liquids and gases. It can therefore be used for compatible water, liquid, and gas pressure monitoring applications.
6. What type of threaded connection does the sensor use?
The sensor features a G1/4 threaded pressure port and comes with a G1/2-to-G1/4 adapter.
7. Is the sensor waterproof?
Yes. It has an IP68 waterproof rating, making it suitable for applications exposed to water when installed according to the manufacturer's requirements.
8. Can the sensor operate above 16 bar?
The specified measurement range is 0–16 bar. Although the manufacturer specifies a normal operating pressure limit of up to 20 bar (2.0 MPa), this does not mean the sensor can accurately measure pressures above 16 bar. The specified damage pressure is ≥30 bar (3.0 MPa), and the sensor should not be operated near or beyond this limit.
