Product Description

The BTA16-600B is a versatile, high-performance bidirectional AC switch (TRIAC) engineered for general-purpose AC power switching and phase control applications. Featuring a continuous root mean square (RMS) on-state current capacity of 16 Amperes and a peak repetitive off-state voltage rating of 600 Volts, it provides reliable switching for standard mains AC lines (110 Volts to 240 Volts AC).

Housed in an insulated TO-220AB package, the BTA16 series incorporates internal ceramic insulation that provides 2500 Volts RMS dielectric isolation between the internal semiconductor junctions and the external metal mounting tab. This allows the TRIAC to be mounted directly onto grounded aluminum heat sinks without requiring additional insulating mica washers or silicone pads. It is widely used in static relays, heating controllers, induction motor speed controllers, light dimmers, and appliance power control circuits.
