PAM8403 Mini Digital Audio Amplifier Module – 2×3W, 5 V DC (Mono/Stereo Applications)

Description:

Ultra-compact Class‑D stereo amplifier module using the PAM8403 IC. Operates from a 5 V rail and delivers up to 3 W per channel. Ideal for portable or microcontroller-based DIY audio projects needing efficient and clear sound.

Key Features:

  • Dual-channel stereo amplifier: 3 W + 3 W output (with 4 Ω speakers at 5 V)
  • Operates on 2.5 V to 5.5 V DC (best at 5 V)
  • Supports 4 Ω to 8 Ω speaker loads
  • High overall efficiency (around 85–90 %) with minimal output filtering required
  • Filter‑less architecture: no external LC low‑pass is needed for speaker interface
  • Built-in protections: short-circuit, thermal shutdown (~140 °C), under-voltage lockout

Technical Specifications:

FeatureSpecification
Amplifier ICPAM8403 (Class‑D)
GainFixed (max 24 dB, ~200 × gain)
Operating Voltage2.5 V – 5.5 V DC (optimal at 5 V)
Output PowerUp to 3 W × 2 channels (at 4 Ω, 5 V)
Supported Speaker Load4 Ω – 8 Ω
Efficiency~85–90 %
ProtectionsShort-circuit, under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown
Frequency ResponseBroad bandwidth, typically >300 kHz capability
Board Dimensions~29.5 * 20.2 * 15mm (length × width × thickness)
Net Weight~1 g

Usage Notes:

  • Provide a stable 5 V DC supply capable of supplying at least 500 mA for both channels.
  • Use 4 Ω speakers for maximum output and volume; 8 Ω speakers reduce power output.
  • Avoid input signal voltages above approx. 0.4 V peak-to-peak to prevent clipping.
  • Ensure correct polarity; reverse voltage can damage the IC.
  • Thermal protection will shut down the amplifier if internal die temperature exceeds ~140 °C.
  • Outputs cannot be combined (tie negative channels together), as this may damage the board.
